Meet the Pros

Ben Stowe ~ Host

Ben's love for electronics began when as a very young child he was left in the care of a neighbor while his mother was hospitalized with a serious illness and his father worked three jobs to make ends meet. Their neighbor ran the small town's TV repair shop out of his home, and in order to occupy the energetic young Ben, he allowed him to play with the electronic components. At first Ben was simply using a pair of side cutters to strip circuit boards and sort the parts, then at the age of 5 his persistent nagging was rewarded with a few soldering lessons and his first cup of the coffee from the workbench thermos. Twenty-nine years later, he is still soldering and still drinking coffee. His love of electronics and technology led to an emphasis of schooling in Electricity 1&2, Electronics 1&2, Robotics and Lasers. Ben supported himself through school by building and selling strobe lights and other electronic devices. He built his first DJ show largely from scratch and scrap, often repairing broken and discarded items because he could not afford to buy new equipment. Ben possesses a Minnesota electrical contractor's license, and the Audio-Visual industry's most widely recognized certification, the InfoComm CTS. His relentless passion for education has also led to a number of other certifications and accreditations. As an AV contractor, his work has been featured in nearly every major trade magazine, and he has been called upon to mentor younger contractors. Ben has been involved in a number of technical writings, lectures, presentations, as well as research and development assistance with a number of manufacturers for products, industry wide.
